Mišukka’s repertoire reflects a period of transition in Border Karelia, blending music rooted in the ancient runosong tradition with newer dances and songs from across Eastern and Western Europe. Playing a 26-string kantele using traditional plucking techniques, Mišukka developed a distinctive approach to tuning and melody. Due to the age and degraded condition of the original wax cylinders, Kastinen draws on Väisänen’s detailed archival notes to reconstruct the performances, carefully adjusting their speed and pitch before replaying the melodies alongside the original recordings. The result brings a remarkable musical tradition into focus, bridging archival preservation and contemporary interpretation. \u003ca data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/deathisnot.bandcamp.com\/album\/iivana-mi-ukka\" href=\"https:\/\/deathisnot.bandcamp.com\/album\/iivana-mi-ukka\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eLISTEN\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Death Is Not The End","offers":[{"title":"LP","offer_id":67793787912473,"sku":null,"price":16.5,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"Cassette","offer_id":67793787945241,"sku":null,"price":9.5,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0714\/4669\/2121\/files\/a3995965352_10.jpg?v=1791916490","url":"https:\/\/virtualdirect.store\/products\/livana-misukka","provider":"Virtual Direct","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
